JANUARY’S PROGRAM
For our January meeting Gene Snowden will present a program on portrait painting. I am familiar with his work and believe him to be one of the most accomplished painters I know in the areas of portraiture, still life, and landscape painting.

He received his bachelor’s degree in art from Murray State
University. He offers private instruction on a continuing
basis and produced many commissioned works. He says of
his painting: “For me, the most fulfilling opportunity for
personal expression and satisfaction is in painting a portrait.
While my portraits are naturally expected to reflect the
outer likeness of the individual, capturing a certain time or
age, it is the inner essence of the individual that I strive to
portray on the canvas. When you look at one of my finished
portraits I hope you are attracted enough to say, ‘I’d
like to get to know this person’, or ‘this is a good person’.”
